Children’s Scriptwriter & Creative Collaborator for Educational Puppet YouTube Series
Job Description:
Are you a passionate, imaginative writer with a love for children’s programming, puppets, and joyful educational storytelling? Do you have a soft spot for Sesame Street, Mister Rogers, or The Muppets? If so, this might be your dream gig.
I’m seeking a creative scriptwriter and collaborator to help develop and co-write episodes for a new children’s YouTube show called Zibbit Explores — an educational puppet series featuring a lovable alien explorer, a quirky robot sidekick, and heartfelt lessons for preschool and early elementary audiences.
Each episode combines educational themes, gentle humor, songs, and whimsical exploration. Think: "alien visitor meets Mr. Rogers meets science and social-emotional learning."
Ideal Candidate:
•Experience writing for children (educational, entertainment, or both)
• Background in early childhood education, curriculum design, or children’s literacy is a plus
• Enthusiastic about collaborating creatively — you love brainstorming
• Familiarity with Sesame Street, Bluey, Daniel Tiger, Mister Rogers, or Storybots style of writing and tone
• Comfortable writing scripts, cold opens, outlines, and episode structure
• Bonus: Experience with AI video tools, animation platforms (like iClone or Runway), or puppet media
Collaboration & Workflow:
• Weekly Writers Room (2 hours, virtual meeting): We’ll brainstorm themes, plan episode outlines, and collaborate creatively.
• In-between sessions: You (or another hired writer) will flesh out full scripts from our outlines.
• I’ll review and give feedback. Revisions may be collaborative or assigned.
Project Details:
• This is a long-term, part-time freelance opportunity
• Pay is per hour or per script depending on arrangement
• We’ll start with one paid test episode or script outline
• Looking to build a small, passionate creative team — if you love the work, there’s plenty more to come
To Apply:
Please include:
1. A short note on why this project excites you
2. Any experience with children’s writing, puppets, or educational media
3. A sample script, outline, or writing portfolio (kid-friendly content preferred)
4. Your availability for weekly meetings and estimated rate
Further project details, characters, and scripts will be shared after signing a simple NDA if we move forward.
