z/OS Systems Engineer - IBM Workload Scheduler (100% Remote)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced z/OS Systems Engineer with hands-on expertise in IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS) to join our IT infrastructure team. This role will focus on the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of workload automation tools in an enterprise z/OS environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of IBM mainframe systems and demonstrate proven experience managing workload automation tools in a mission-critical setting. Key Responsibilities: • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS/TWS) on z/OS systems. • Manage and support batch scheduling environments for enterprise workloads. • Work with application and infrastructure teams to define and implement job scheduling requirements. • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to job failures, performance, and system integration. • Develop and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures. • Participate in system audits, DR exercises, and change control processes. • Monitor system performance and recommend improvements to scheduling strategies and tools. • Ensure adherence to internal controls, compliance, and security best practices. • Provide on-call and off-hours support as needed for maintenance or emergencies. Required Qualifications: • 5+ years of hands-on experience with z/OS mainframe systems. • Proven experience with IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS/TWS) installation and administration. • Strong knowledge of JCL, RACF, and IBM mainframe utilities. • Familiarity with SMPE (System Modification Program/Extended) for applying maintenance. • Experience integrating IWS with other enterprise tools and platforms. • Ability to perform root cause analysis and problem resolution in a production environment. • Excellent communication and documentation skills. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with other scheduling tools (e.g., CA-7, Control-M) is a plus. • Familiarity with z/OSMF, REXX, or Automation Frameworks. • Exposure to z/OS Connect, z/OS UNIX System Services, or Sysplex environments. • ITIL, IBM, or other relevant certifications. • Knowledge of DevOps pipelines and how workload automation integrates in hybrid/cloud environments.
