Job title: Part-Time Private High School Math Tutor (C) Company: SiSTEM Tutoring Agency LLC, Job description : Job Summary: As a tutor, you will work one-on-one with students to provide academic support in High School Math. You will be responsible for developing lesson plans, assessing student progress, and communicating with parents and teachers as needed. Mentors/Tutors that can help high school-aged students prepare for their STAAR exam in Math; Previous teachers preferable. MUST BE eligible to work in the United States of America and have a valid Social Security Number; Note: We do not sponsor visas at this time MUST BE Committed to tutoring for the duration of the assignment with a possibility of extension MUST Be able to pass a background check Great interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt and relate to students from diverse backgrounds MUST HAVE your own computer and be technologically savvy (email, texting, Slack, Google Sheets/Excel) MUST HAVE a selfless commitment to making a difference in students' lives (we work with migrant students and you must have compassion for all students regardless) A High School Math Tutor should be able to tutor a wide range of math topics and skills to High School students. The specific subjects and concepts covered may vary depending on the student's grade level and individual needs, but below are common areas that a high school math tutor should possess: Basic Arithmetic - Candidates should be able to assist with fundamental arithmetic operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. They should also help students with operations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages. Algebra - Should be able to teach algebraic concepts such as solving equations, inequalities, and systems of equations. They should also be able to cover topics like exponents, polynomials, and factoring. Geometry - Geometry topics may include properties of shapes, angles, triangles, quadrilaterals, circles, and three-dimensional geometry. Candidates should also be able to assist with geometric proofs and theorems. Pre-Calculus - This can encompass various topics such as functions, graphing, logarithms, exponential functions, sequences, series, and conic sections. Calculus - For advanced high school students, candidates should be able to cover calculus topics like limits, derivatives, integrals, and applications of calculus. Statistics and Probability - Candidates should be able to teach concepts related to data analysis, probability theory, statistical inference, and statistical software. Word Problems - Helping students decipher and solve word problems is an essential skill, and tutors can provide strategies for tackling these types of math questions effectively. Test Preparation - The tutor should be able to assist with test preparation for standardized exams like the SAT, ACT, AP exams, or state-level assessments. This includes reviewing relevant content and test-taking strategies. This is a plus, but not required. Qualifications and Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt and relate to others from diverse backgrounds. Strong organizational and time management skills. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Be eligible to work in the United States of America and have the documentation to prove it. Have your own computer and be technologically savvy (email, texting, Slack, Google Sheets/Excel) SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERTISE: A college student with at least 60 hours of credit hours A college graduate (Bachelor?s, Master?s, Doctoral degree holder) A certified teacher with SBEC or other teacher state licensure certification A retired teacher with SBEC or other teacher state licensure certification Skilled in High School level Math Have a minimum of 1-2 years of mentoring, tutoring, or teaching in a classroom or school environment Have a demonstrated history of working with students who are learning to speak English Be able to work with 1 to 15 students at a time BENEFITS: This position is a CONTRACT job.
