Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Safety Monitor to join our Safety and Security team. As a Safety Monitor, you will be responsible for monitoring students on our high school and junior high school campuses, reporting and resolving incidents that may jeopardize the health, safety, or welfare of any student or employee, and maintaining a safe and secure learning environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist building administrators in maintaining campus control, safety, and student behavior, including monitoring halls, unsupervised areas, and high school parking lots
  • Watch video throughout the school day and assist in checking video after incidents have been identified
  • Determine the status of visitors to campus and ensure that they comply with district policies and procedures
  • Monitor parking lots and discourage student loitering, promoting a safe and respectful environment
  • Notify building administrators of student rule violations and may be asked to physically accompany rule violators to the front office
  • Consult with building administrators regarding student safety and security concerns or issues, providing valuable insights and recommendations
  • Supervise activities sponsored by the school, including athletic events, dances, theatre productions, and music/vocal concerts, as necessary
  • Cooperate with School Resource Officers (SROs) by investigating incidents and providing information as necessary, fostering a collaborative and supportive approach to student safety
  • Assist building administrators and SROs during emergency situations and drills, ensuring a prompt and effective response to any incidents that may arise
  • Attend work and arrive in a timely manner, demonstrating a commitment to reliability and responsibility
  • Perform other duties as assigned, adapting to the evolving needs of the school district and its students

Essential Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • 1 year of related experience preferred, with a focus on safety, security, or education
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered, with a emphasis on demonstrating relevant skills and knowledge
  • Criminal background check required for hire, ensuring the safety and well-being of our students and staff
  • CPR and First Aid certifications preferred, with a commitment to maintaining up-to-date training and certifications
