Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced and talented Preschool Aid and Teacher Assistant to join our team in Tampa, FL. As a Preschool Aid, you will play a vital role in developing activities for preschool children, assisting teachers in implementing educational objectives, and promoting parent involvement in the program. Key Responsibilities

  • Implement approved curricula in the classroom and guide daily activities, field trips, and equipment arrangement in collaboration with the teacher
  • Cooperate with other staff and classroom groups to maintain a smooth functioning center, adapting to changing needs as required
  • Write weekly observations per assessment procedure and use parent conferences to discuss child development and progress
  • Eat with and assist children in developing social and self-help skills, promoting sound nutritional practices and engaging in developmentally appropriate activities
  • Guide children's acquisition of social skills, attend staff training and meetings, and participate in board and parent meetings as requested
  • Assist in providing and maintaining a safe and healthy environment, ensuring at least 80% of children are kindergarten ready, and maintaining positive classroom behavior
  • Assist the teacher in maintaining comprehensive and ongoing portfolio assessments, conducting home visits and parent conferences, and recruiting and orienting volunteers
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding Head Start/Early Head Start children, families, and staff, and perform other duties as required

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent, as well as a National Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or Florida Child Care Professional Certificate (FCCPC) for Pre-school or Infant/Toddler Endorsement. Alternatively, an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field will also be considered. You will need to demonstrate a strong understanding of early childhood education principles, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a preschool or early childhood education setting
  • Knowledge of Head Start/Early Head Start programs and regulations
  • Ability to speak multiple languages, particularly Spanish
  • Experience with curriculum development and implementation
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
