Key Responsibilities and Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including:

  • Leading the Challenging Athletes' Mindset for Personal Success (CHAMPS) Program, which includes coordinating speakers, topics, and resources to empower student-athletes towards academic success
  • Implementing the bi-weekly Student-Athlete Progress Report program in coordination with head coaches to monitor student-athlete progress and provide support
  • Building effective working relationships with college administrators in offices such as Academic Advising, Counseling, Learning Lab, Orientation, and Registrar to ensure a collaborative approach to student-athlete success
  • Developing and implementing programs for student-athletes identified as "high-risk" academically, including coordinating tutoring, supplemental instruction, and other support services
  • Directing Study Table programs as necessary in coordination with head coaches to provide additional academic support
  • Coordinating services, programs, and workshops that assist student-athletes with academic success in both in-person and online environments
  • Leading campus, conference, and national academic award presentations and reports in coordination with compliance guidelines to recognize student-athlete achievements
  • Tracking student-athletes who transfer to increase the college's graduation rate and identifying areas for improvement
  • Leading the Student-Athlete Orientation program for new and returning student-athletes to ensure a smooth transition and provide essential information
  • Leading the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee to provide a platform for student-athletes to share their concerns and ideas
  • Coordinating and leading efforts to ensure that the Athletic department is in full compliance with NJCAA and MCCAA rules and regulations
  • Providing a timely and accurate system of completing mandated forms, reports, assessments, and audits as required by various reporting and oversight agencies
  • Collaborating with the Registrar to certify eligibility of all student-athletes and ensure compliance with college policies and procedures

Essential Qualifications and Competencies

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's degree in education, business, sports management, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution, or a comparable combination of a bachelor's degree in a related field and relevant experience
  • Four (4) years of experience working with secondary or post-secondary students, preferably in an athletic or educational setting
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to express verbal and written ideas and thoughts clearly and effectively
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze problems, weigh relevance and accuracy of information, and generate alternative solutions
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others, including college administrators, coaches, and student-athletes, to achieve common goals
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

While not essential, the following qualifications and skills are preferred:

  • Experience working in an athletic department or a related field, with knowledge of NJCAA and MCCAA rules and regulations
  • Experience with academic support services, including tutoring, supplemental instruction, and academic advising
  • Knowledge of student-athlete development and retention strategies
  • Experience with compliance and eligibility procedures
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and direct others
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
