Job Summary
As a Chat & Connect Telephone Caller, you will be responsible for making outbound calls to RNIB beneficiaries and supporters, sharing relevant information, and connecting them with others who understand their experiences. You will play a crucial role in helping individuals on their journey to living well with sight loss. This role can be done from home, with the flexibility to make calls at times that fit your schedule. We are seeking a minimum commitment of four hours per week, for a period of around six months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Making outbound calls to RNIB beneficiaries and supporters, sharing relevant information, and connecting them with others who understand their experiences
- Providing emotional support and empathy to individuals with sight loss, acknowledging their challenges and building rapport
- Sharing information about available services, ways to connect with others, and opportunities to play a positive role in removing barriers in society
- Making brief, accurate notes in the customer contact record
- Working in a quiet and confidential space at home, ensuring that neither your screen nor conversations are visible/audible to others in your household
Support and Training
We understand that this role requires a unique set of skills and competencies. That's why we provide comprehensive training before you start making calls, and ongoing support throughout your volunteering. You will have access to:

- MS Teams for communication and connection with other volunteers and colleagues
- Bi-annual team meetings
- Social "Kettle catchups" to connect with other volunteers and colleagues
Requirements and Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- To be at least 18 years old
- A friendly, empathetic, and non-judgmental disposition
- Excellent listening skills, with the ability to acknowledge and build rapport
- A sociable nature and the ability to put people at ease
- Confidence with IT, including MS Windows and common software
- A laptop or PC with reliable broadband internet connection
- A quiet and confidential space at home for making calls
