Key Responsibilities
As a First/Second Grade Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with our experienced teachers to implement lesson plans, assess student progress, and provide individualized support to students. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Implementing teacher lesson plans and providing individual and group instruction to students
 - Administering assessment tools and evaluating student progress
 - Assisting in creating a Nature-Based learning environment that is engaging and interactive
 - Working individually with special needs students and those with special accommodations
 - Substituting for the classroom teacher when necessary and team teaching a split-grade classroom
 - Assisting students with technology and distributing and collecting materials
 - Maintaining classroom discipline and guiding independent study
 - Participating in professional development activities and training to enhance your skills and knowledge
 - Operating equipment, showing movies, making copies, and performing other administrative tasks as needed
 - Performing non-instructional duties such as safety duty, playground supervision, and maintaining a clean and orderly classroom
 
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An Associate's degree or higher in a relevant field
 - The ability to provide and maintain an orderly and safe learning environment
 - The physical ability to move about the classroom and playground, and lift 30 pounds
 - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
 - The ability to work independently and as part of a team
 - A passion for education and a commitment to supporting the academic success of students
 
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Experience working with students in a classroom setting
 - Knowledge of Nature-Based learning principles and practices
 - Experience with special needs students and those with special accommodations
 - Proficiency in educational technology and software
