About the Role: Direct Support Professional, Day Services
We're seeking a compassionate, creative, and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our day services team in Santa Maria, CA. As a DSP, you'll play a pivotal role in providing skills training and behavioral support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead in-person and virtual classes, as well as community outings and volunteer opportunities, designed to help individuals develop a wide range of skills.
- Develop and implement engaging curriculums that include art, music, cooking, recreation, vocational skills, and more, tailored to the interests and needs of the individuals we support.
- Build strong, professional relationships with individuals, acting as a positive role model for work habits, communication skills, and social skills.
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living and personal care, ensuring their well-being and safety.
- Work collaboratively with a small group of individuals in both facility-based and community-based settings.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
While previous experience working with individuals with disabilities or disadvantages is desirable, it's not a requirement. We're open to candidates who are passionate about this work and willing to learn. Essential qualifications include:
- A valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record, as you'll be required to drive groups on community outings.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to interact positively with individuals, families, and colleagues.
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- A compassionate and patient demeanor, with a genuine interest in supporting individuals with unique needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in customer service or a related field.
- Bilingual skills (English-Spanish or English-ASL), which can be an asset in our diverse community.
What We Offer:

- A competitive hourly rate starting at $18.50 per hour, with a pay range of $15.50-$22.61 per hour.
- A bilingual pay differential, starting at $18.80 per hour, for candidates who are fluent in English-Spanish or English-ASL.
