Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and experienced School Year Tutor to join our team in Paterson, NJ. As a School Year Tutor, you will play a critical role in providing one-on-one and small group tutoring to students in grades K-8, focusing on math and literacy skills. Key Responsibilities

As a School Year Tutor, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Engaging with students in grades K-8 to build on existing mathematics and/or literacy skills
  • Completing daily records on student progress and site needs using the tools provided
  • Using data to drive instruction and inform teaching practices
  • Communicating regularly with site coordinators to provide optimum learning experiences for students
  • Participating in coaching from an instructional coach to enhance teaching skills and strategies
  • Using an asset-based approach in working with students to build on their strengths and interests
  • Being responsive and working collaboratively with other tutors and site staff to create a supportive learning environment
  • Completing all required training and professional development opportunities

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:
  • Experience working with young children, preferably in a learning and teaching capacity
  • Standard certificate, certificate of eligibility (CE), or certificate of eligibility with advanced standing (CEAS) to receive a $40 hourly pay rate (or $30 hourly pay rate without a certificate)
  • New Jersey Certification of Criminal History (fingerprint form)
  • Experience with Google Suite functions, including Google Sheets and Forms
  • Professional skills, including attention to detail, timely and proactive communication, and job preparedness
  • Reliable transportation to travel to sites

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
  • Experience working in a tutoring or teaching capacity, particularly in a high-dosage tutoring program
  • Knowledge of curriculum and instructional strategies for math and literacy
  • Experience working with diverse student populations and backgrounds
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
