Methane Science, Data Analyst Intern
EDF seeks a Methane Science Data Analyst Intern to analyze oil and gas flaring data and communicate insights through visualizations and reports.
Your Role
Key responsibilities include:
• Write code to clean, organize, and analyze oil and gas operator reported flaring data
• Draw insights from the data and prepare appropriate visualizations
• Write a report describing the data and insights
• Communicate findings to other members of the Science and Innovation team
• Participate in advancing EDF’s organizational effectiveness and culture goals to foster inclusion and empowerment
About You
What you'll need:
• Enrolled in or recent graduate of an undergraduate degree program
• Demonstrated interest in environmental topics, data analysis, or the oil and gas industry
• Experience in data analysis and data visualization required
• Basic proficiency in programming languages such as R or Python
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Well organized, motivated, and detail oriented
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines
• Ability to work both independently and in a team setting
• Demonstrated self-awareness, cultural competency, inclusivity, and ability to work with diverse colleagues and stakeholders
• Initiative and problem-solving skills
Compensation & Benefits
• Part-time (15-20 hours/week) internship
• Compensation at $18/hour, competitive with leading non-profits
• U.S. remote work with option for hybrid work at EDF office in Austin, TX
