Library, Special Collections - Federal Work Study Student AssistantJoin to apply for the Library, Special Collections - Federal Work Study Student Assistant role at CSU CareersLibrary, Special Collections - Federal Work Study Student Assistant1 day ago Be among the first 25 applicantsJoin to apply for the Library, Special Collections - Federal Work Study Student Assistant role at CSU CareersJob SummaryUnder direct supervision of the Dean and under the lead work direction of the Water Resources Collections Archivist, the incumbent will provide support for a range of duties in Special Collections & University Archives including archival processing, stacks maintenance, digitization, reference and public service.Job SummaryUnder direct supervision of the Dean and under the lead work direction of the Water Resources Collections Archivist, the incumbent will provide support for a range of duties in Special Collections & University Archives including archival processing, stacks maintenance, digitization, reference and public service.Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited ToUnder direct supervision and under the lead work direction, duties include but not limited to:Assist with basic archival processing, which includes re-housing, arranging, and describing materials according to established archival standards and best practicesEnter collection information into spreadsheets, ArchivesSpace, and other library-based platformsRetrieve and shelve departmental materialsShelf read materials to maintain correct order and identify missing or misplaced itemsShift and move collections to ensure adequate space for collection growthDigitize photographs, documents, publications, and other materialsProcess digital objects (e.g., image cropping, color adjustment, access file creation) using appropriate software applicationsAssist with answering reference questions received by the departmentAssist patrons in the reading room by answering basic questions and determining when additional staff or faculty assistance is neededCommunicate departmental procedures and policies to patronsMonitor collection security in reading roomAssist with special events as neededPerform other related work for Special Collections & University Archives as neededMinimum Qualifications: Required Education and ExperienceAbility to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.Special Qualification: Admission or registration as a CSU student.Required QualificationsMaintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)Eligible to work in the United StatesPayroll Requirement: Social Security CardPreferred QualificationsExperience using Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, and Adobe PhotoshopExperience working with spreadsheets and/or databasesExperience working with digital image capture and scanning equipmentCompensation And BenefitsStudent Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.50 per hour.The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.Position InformationWork status: Part-Time, Temporary, SeasonalThe application deadline is: 8/24/2025 at 11:55 pm (PST)Academic year available hours: Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm).Summer available hours: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).This is an 'On-Campus Only' position.
