Virtual Assistant for Video Editing & Substack Publishing (Tech/Sustainability Focus)
                                Description:
I'm looking for a part-time, detail-oriented Virtual Assistant (VA) to help manage and execute a range of content tasks for The Tech Ledger—a campaign focused on reframing technical debt and exploring the intersection of technology, sustainability, and ESG.
You’ll be supporting a fractional executive and content creator who is building a library of podcast episodes, Substack articles, explainer videos, and social posts. The campaign / platform is going to be a mix of serious content on the topic, plus satire, humour, music, sport - and fun!! So candidates must have a demonstrable sense of humour and wit
Key Responsibilities:
- Video Editing (short-form and long-form):
- Clean up podcast footage (1-hour episodes)
- Edit short teaser clips for social media
- Add captions, transitions, and branding elements
- Upload/export in formats suitable for YouTube, LinkedIn, Substack
Substack Updates:
- Format and publish draft articles (usually written in Notion or Google Docs)
- Add embedded video/audio
- Schedule and tag posts correctly
- Occasionally rewrite intro blurbs or summaries using brand tone
General Content Management:
- Organise files and drafts in Google Drive and Notion
- Update podcast descriptions, show notes, and guest info
- Assist with light research (e.g. quote sourcing, fact-checking)
- Upload and schedule content in YouTube, Substack, and other platforms
Preferred Tools & Platforms:
- CapCut, Descript, Canva, or similar for editing
- Substack, Notion, Google Workspace, YouTube Studio
- Zapier and Calendly experience a bonus
Ideal Candidate:
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Excellent written English (UK style preferred)
- Comfortable with light-touch creative input—e.g. selecting clip highlights or structuring article summaries
- Interest in tech, ESG, or sustainability themes is a plus
- Able to work independently with minimal micro-management
Flexible time zone but must be responsive within UK business hours a few times per week
Hours & Budget:
- Starting at 5–10 hours/week with potential to grow
- Hourly or project-based depending on fit
