Title: Online University Lecturer/ Senior University Lecturer - Computer Science... Department: Computer Science Reports To: The Department Chair Position Type: Faculty Position Summary: The Department of Computer Science at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) seeks Online University Lecturer/Senior University Lecturer candidates. Candidates are expected to teach introductory programming courses and advanced courses in support of our undergraduate and graduate programs. The successful candidate will also be involved in creating course content and materials with a focus on hands-on experiential and project-based learning. Candidates residing anywhere in the United States are welcome to apply. Essential Functions: The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses online as well as create course content and materials. Prerequisite Qualifications: • Successful candidates must have an MS degree in Computer Science or a related area. • Candidates should demonstrate an expert grasp of knowledge in one or more of the following areas: data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, data structures and algorithms, software engineering, operating systems, computer networks, and databases, either through a record of teaching excellence, or through industrial experience. • Knowledge in computer science pedagogy is a plus. • Experience teaching online courses as well as designing and building online courses. • Experience with learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) as well as with online video conferencing and collaboration tools (e.g., WebEx, Slack). • At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position. Preferred Qualifications: • Strong written, oral and interpersonal skills. • Experience with online proctoring systems (e.g., ProctorU).
