Entry-Level Energy Data Analyst

Remote, USA Full-time Posted 2025-11-03
Job Title: Entry-Level Energy Data Analyst Location: Remote (Eastern Europe preferred) About Us: Infranergy is an energy infrastructure company. We operate an early-stage trading and data intelligence team focused on identifying emerging signals in the power markets—where physical infrastructure meets market inefficiency. We're particularly interested in the intersection of datacenter growth (AI, crypto mining, HPC) and wholesale energy markets (FTRs, LMPs, constraints). We're now hiring an entry-level analyst with strong data instincts to help us build a proprietary foundation of actionable energy infrastructure intelligence. Role Overview: As our Entry-Level Energy Data Analyst, you’ll be responsible for identifying and organizing critical data around data centers operating across U.S. ISOs (e.g., MISO, ERCOT, PJM), particularly those impacting regional grid constraints. Your job will be to collect, clean, and structure this information, helping us understand which sites impact grid congestion—and ultimately shape transmission pricing and trade strategy. This role is data-heavy; trading potential is a plus, but strong data scraping, parsing, and organization skills are essential. What You'll Do: • Datacenter Identification: • Map out all known and emerging datacenters (AI, Bitcoin, hyperscale) across U.S. grid ISOs (e.g., MISO, ERCOT, PJM). • Use public records, grid interconnection queues, corporate disclosures, web scraping, and third-party databases to track location, capacity, type (e.g., crypto, AI), and energy usage patterns. Transmission Path Mapping: • Identify the transmission lines (T-lines) connecting datacenters to the grid. • Trace source-to-sink paths that align with active FTR markets and monthly auction paths. Data Aggregation & Structuring: • Build a centralized database mapping datacenters to corresponding substations, T-lines, ISO zones/nodes, and load zones. • Harmonize multiple data sources into a queryable structure (experience with Snowflake or willingness to learn a plus). Backtest Preparation: • Prepare clean historical datasets required to test market assumptions about datacenter-driven congestion. • Work alongside senior team members to define variables and test historical alpha signals across auction months. Support Grid Market Research: • Help categorize data center activity by ISO (e.g., MISO North Dakota, ERCOT West, etc.). • Monitor grid constraints, load forecasts, and congestion reports, especially in emerging areas with underestimated demand. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Data Science, Engineering, Power Systems, Economics, or related field. Job Types: Contract, Internship Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour Benefits: • Relocation assistance Work Location: Remote Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
