POSITION Instructional Paraeducator - Virtual Learning LOCATION Dishman Hills High School SCHEDULE Hours/Day - 6 Days/Year - 191 SALARY Level 2 Paraeducator - SNAP Salary Schedule Placement is dependent on experience Pay is annualized over 12 months JOB TYPEHourly UNION/CONTRACT SNAP (PSE) START DATE August 27, 2025 SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT The Virtual Learning Paraeducator to provide support for students in our virtual learning environment. This position will assist students with online course navigation, progress monitoring, and troubleshooting, as well as facilitate communication among students, parents, and staff. The Virtual Learning Paraeducator will also work with virtual students who come on-site who need additional support, assist with college and career field trips, and track student progress toward graduation requirements. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Computer experience, specifically working with the Google Suite. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • High School Diploma or equivalent; AND one of the following education requirements: • Associate Arts or higher degree OR • 72-quarter credits (48 semester credits) from an accredited college, OR • Pass an academically rigorous assessment. • Demonstrated ability to assist with instructional activities. • Possess high moral and ethical standards. • Demonstrated ability to develop positive relationships with staff, students, and families and contribute to a positive culture. • Demonstrate mature behavior and sound judgment in working with parents, students, staff, and the community. • Demonstrated interest in working with vulnerable students with a broad range of disabilities. • Ability to follow directions, carry out routines, and implement interventions as directed by certificated staff or supervisors. • Work independently and take initiative with minimal oversight. • Ability to interact with and instruct students using school technology. • Proficiency in basic communication skills and ability to see, hear, and listen to the teacher and students throughout the classroom or school settings to supervise and maintain a safe environment for a diverse group of students. • Able to meet the physical demands of the position, which may include and are not limited to, kneeling, bending, and working or sitting on the floor with students; running after students, based on student needs. • Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance. • Completion of all district-required training within thirty (30) calendar days from the hire date. RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide technical support to students, parents, and staff for online virtual courses via phone, video conferencing, and in-person support during Student Success Sessions and Study Sessions. • Monitor students' weekly progress, contacting students, parents, counselors, and other stakeholders to document interventions and maintain compliance with ALE documentation requirements. • Use student data from multiple sources to identify students and guide support strategies. • Work directly with students on-site who need additional academic support, providing individualized assistance to help them meet their learning goals. • Collaborate with instructional staff, counselors, and special education teachers to support students' successful completion of virtual courses. • Organize and support college and career field trips, ensuring students are engaged in relevant, career-focused experiences to support their future pathways. • Assist in tracking students' progress toward graduation requirements, ensuring students are on track to meet academic and credit goals. • Ensure proper accommodations and supports for special education and 504 students in the virtual and in-person learning environments. • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to virtual learning platforms and courses, offering suggestions for improvements. • Help ensure compliance with state and federal laws regarding virtual learning and ALE guidelines. • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, documentation, and progress data to track their academic journey. • Respond to inquiries from the public, students, and staff in a courteous and professional manner. • Collaborate with team members to foster a positive learning environment and provide ongoing support for virtual learners. • Support school marketing and promotional efforts for the virtual learning program. • Perform other related duties as assigned. IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR Building Principal TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Salary and work year are determined by the negotiated agreement and the needs of the District. Verification of identity and United States work authorization must be completed before employment commences. The successful candidate for this position must complete a fingerprinted background check with the Washington State Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Employment is contingent upon clearance of the background check. RETIREMENT - All regular, non-substitute employees are enrolled in a state retirement plan through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS). SICK LEAVE - All regular, non-substitute employees receive 12 sick leave days (prorated based on FTE) and paid time off. Substitute employees receive sick leave per RCW 49.46.210. PAID TIME OFF - All regular, non-substitute employees receive paid time off, including annual and/or vacation leave. Paid time off varies by position and work year.
