General Contractor (Qualifying Agent)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and licensed GC Qualifying Agent for our construction company. The Qualifying Agent will be responsible for ensuring the company maintains legal compliance with all state and local licensing requirements, as well as overseeing construction operations to meet quality, safety, and project standards. We operate all over the Southeast, and are currently licensed primarily in Georgia, but maintain licenses in Florida, South Carolina, and Alabama. These states are our priority, but we may want to add licensing in other Surrounding states in the future.
Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as the license holder and qualifying individual for the company with state licensing boards.
• Ensure the company’s operations are in full compliance with state contractor licensing laws and regulations.
• Oversee or support construction projects, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and site supervision as needed.
• Review and approve construction plans, permits, and contracts to ensure compliance and adherence to building codes.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, inspectors, and clients to ensure smooth project execution.
• Provide expert guidance to project managers and field staff on construction best practices.
• Maintain documentation of all regulatory filings, safety inspections, and licensing renewals.
• Monitor project progress and proactively identify and resolve issues.
Qualifications:
• Valid and active General Contractor (Qualify Agent) License in the state of Georgia.
• [5-10] years of experience in construction management or general contracting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of local and state building codes, OSHA regulations, and permitting requirements.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Willingness to take legal and professional responsibility for the company’s contracting activities as the Qualifying Agent.
Preferred:
• Experience with commercial projects.
• Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend).
Compensation:
• Competitive salary or monthly retainer, depending on level of involvement.
• Bonus potential based on project success and compliance milestones.
