Remote Lead Coder - Revenue Integrity (Flexible Hours, Competitive Salary)

As a Lead Coder - Revenue Integrity, you will play a critical role in reviewing, analyzing, and coding diagnostic and procedural information using ICD-10-CM diagnosis and procedures and CPT coding for reimbursement. You will assign and sequence ICD-10-CM/CPT codes by applying regulatory coding guidelines, apply advanced knowledge of disease processes, and follow appropriate guidelines and policies to code accurately from physician documentation within the medical record.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, analyze, and code diagnostic and procedural information using ICD-10-CM diagnosis and procedures and CPT coding for reimbursement
  • Assign and sequence ICD-10-CM/CPT codes by applying regulatory coding guidelines
  • Apply advanced knowledge of disease processes to assign codes for conditions and procedures not listed in the indexes of coding books
  • Follow appropriate guidelines and policies to code accurately from physician documentation within the medical record
  • Query physicians for diagnoses or missing/ambiguous information for accurate coding
  • Apply organizational documentation policies and procedures in conjunction with official coding guidelines
  • Evaluate the record for documentation consistency and adequacy
  • Ensure the final diagnosis accurately reflects the care and treatment rendered
  • Meet coding standards per discipline and work as a team member to meet organizational financial goals
  • Assist with reports, training of employees, auditing employees, working with CDMP, and other duties as required

Note: This position offers a fully remote work opportunity, and employees in this role must reside in one of the following states: Kentucky, Indiana, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, North Carolina, or South Carolina.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • One year of coding experience
  • One of the following certifications: CCA, CCS, CIC-ICD, COC, CPC, RHIA, or RHIT

Desired:

  • Three years of acute care hospital inpatient coding experience
  • Associate Degree
  • Certified Coding Associate, Certified Coding Specialist, Certified Inpatient Coder ICD-10, Certified Outpatient Coding, Certified Professional Coder, Registered Health Information Administrator, or Registered Health Information Technician
