We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Elementary Teacher - Grade 4 to join our team at Norwalk Public Schools for the 2023-2024 school year. This is a hybrid role, offering the flexibility to balance your time between our Remote office and home.
Job Summary:
As an Elementary Teacher - Grade 4, you will play a vital role in shaping the educational experiences of our students. Your responsibilities will include:
- Instructing students in a specific area of specialty, promoting subject matter and skill development.
- Creating a classroom environment conducive to learning, setting clear expectations and routines.
- Managing classroom and individual student behavior to maintain an optimal learning environment.
- Preparing lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, using appropriate techniques to serve the needs of all learners.
- Demonstrating strong content knowledge and maintaining accurate records.
- Conducting parent/teacher conferences and maintaining ongoing communication with parents.
- Assessing student learning, identifying areas of intervention, and designing instruction to meet the needs of all students.
Responsibilities:
- Follows the scope and sequence of the instructional program as defined and approved by the Norwalk Board of Education.
- Sets and reinforces clear expectations and routines.
- Manages the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain an advantageous learning environment.
- Prepares lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, uses appropriate techniques, and serves the needs of all learners in the classroom.
- Demonstrates strong content knowledge.
- Maintains accurate and complete records as required.
- Conducts parent/teacher conferences.
- Assesses student learning on a continual basis and identifies areas of intervention if needed.
Requirements:
- Active 305 CDE Certification as required by the Connecticut State Department of Education.
- Bachelor's Degree in Education.
- Experience working with students in a diverse school setting.
- Experience with team teaching in a multicultural environment.
- Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Effective, active listening skills.
- Organizational and problem-solving skills.
