Be part of a dynamic and innovative team at High School District 214! We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Anticipated Instructional Assistant - Student Services (Grant) to join our team. As a key member of our student services team, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our students, particularly a vision-impaired student who requires 1:1 support.

In this rewarding role, you will work closely with licensed teachers, staff, students, and parents/guardians to implement specialized education programs and provide individualized support. Your expertise and creativity will be valued as you contribute to the development and implementation of innovative educational strategies.

About the Role:

  • 37.5 hours per week, 10-month temporary and grant-funded position (September 15, 2023 - May 31, 2024)
  • Grade 4 assignment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students under the direction of licensed staff, including tutoring, implementing classroom procedures, and reinforcing positive behavior
  • Support licensed staff with classroom-related tasks, such as organizing and supervising off-campus programs, performing clerical tasks, and assisting with lab set-up and clean-up
  • Collaborate with staff, students, and community members to enhance social growth, academic support, and student interactions
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance job performance and stay up-to-date on best practices

Requirements:

  • State and NCLB Approved Paraprofessional designation (or willingness to obtain)
  • Physical ability to lift/move supplies, materials, and office equipment up to 50 lbs, as well as students needing assistance
  • Proficiency in computer use, office practices, procedures, and office equipment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to project a positive image of the district
  • Previous experience working with youth and awareness of student needs, including physical and social-emotional needs
