Virtual Elementary PE/Health Teacher
About the position
Michigan Online School (MOS) is a K-12 tuition-free online public school in Michigan, dedicated to empowering students to learn in ways that suit them best. We are seeking a Virtual Elementary PE/Health Teacher who is passionate about creating a rigorous and nurturing classroom environment that prioritizes student learning and social-emotional development. This position involves serving as the teacher of record and primary instructor, where you will relentlessly work to meet all goals related to student achievement and culture, as well as state-specific academic accountability goals. In this role, you will deliver highly effective live lessons via web conference, tailored to student needs and rooted in research-based instructional practices. You will be responsible for course setup within the Learning Management System, monitoring student progress in asynchronous courses, providing feedback, and grading assignments daily. Maintaining contact with each student is crucial, as is collaborating with the Principal to create and deliver Progress Reports. You will frequently review student-level data to inform instructional program adjustments and differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students. Creating a joyful, caring, and loving classroom environment is essential, as is integrating culturally responsive teaching practices into daily lessons and interactions with students, parents, and colleagues. You will implement school-wide culture expectations and norms, communicate regularly with families regarding their child's academic and social-emotional growth, and incorporate 21st-century technology skills into your classroom practice. Participation in planning and implementing non-instructional activities, such as social events and field trips, is also part of the role, along with attending these events in person.
