For additional information on remote work at Penn State, see .JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTSThe Department of Public Health Sciences at the Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA are hiring a part-time undergraduate research assistant to help conduct research projects applying AI technology, cutting-edge data analytics in mental and behavioral health. Formal training in psychology and statistics is essential to carry on the projects. This is a part-time position from now till August 2025, with a maximum of 20 hours/week. The work can be carried out in a hybrid mode but requires the research assistant to come to office multiple days weekly for group meetings and device testing. The research assistant will work under the supervision of the core faculty members at the Center of Applied Studies in Health Economics (CASHE).Job DutiesJob duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist with collect data from experimental AI devices
- Assist with extracting information from the data dictionaries and codebooks
- Assist with literature review to identify relevant analytical methods
- Assist with detailing the programming workflow
- Assist with writing programming codes
- Assist with commenting program codes for readability
- Assist with drafting reports, research abstracts and manuscripts
- Undergraduate students with at least one-year course work in the areas of Statistics and Psychology, and experience in research methods for psychology.
- Hands-on experiences in wearable AI devices and derived features are highly desired.
- Programming skills in R, SAS, and Python
- Strong analytical skills in connection with basic clinical principles preferred is a plus
- Ability to work under tight timeline
- Ability to learn new programming skills quickly and independently
- Highly motivated and detail-oriented
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion in mental/behavioral health and public health in general is a plus
