- Plans and coordinates basic nursing care and provides a skilled level of nursing to residents
- Reviews and audits specific care activities to determine compliance with policies and standards of care as part of a department quality assurance activity
- Provides a broad range of medical and nursing treatments to residents as prescribed within the scope of practice and determines the most effective methods to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Competently administers medications to residents within the scope of practice while observing the five rights of safe medication administration, resident rights, infection control standards, and appropriate nursing policies
- Appropriately identifies changes in resident's conditions that need to be assessed by a registered nurse
- Notes changes in resident condition that need to be assessed by a registered nurse. Documents treatments and gathers data to determine response to treatment
- Participates in work teams to establish best practice protocols for common treatments or procedures
- Provide infection control, implementing/using universal precautions, and disposal of waste. Clean linen room and equipment, stock supplies, and complete supply forms. Identifies high-risk residents for falls, skin breakdown, or other potentially harmful situations and assures appropriate interventions are initiated to correct problems
- Correct use of safety/positioning devices, side rails, transfer belts, proper use of equipment, and attend ongoing staff education programs. Maintain updated skills, knowledge, abilities, and competencies necessary to the position through continuing education, clinical supervision, literature review, and participating in discipline and team development
- Provide input and orientation for new employees
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Special Qualifications:Required to obtain a CPR card and possess and maintain a Colorado LPN license in good standingEducation/Licensure/Certification/Experience:Current, valid licensure as an LPN from the Colorado Board of Nursing or any state participating in the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)ANDThree years of professional experience in a long-term care environmentSubstitutionsAppropriate education will substitute for up to two years of the required experience on a year-for-year basis Conditions of Employment:
- CBI name check and fingerprint check, ICON Colorado court database, Medicare fraud database, Reference Checks, Professional License verification (licensure requirements), Drug Screen, PREA (Division of Youth Services), Trails check (direct contact with children), CAPS (direct contact with adults - Mental Health Institutes, Regional Centers, Veterans Community Living Centers)
- Current, Valid US Driver's License
- May have to transport residents in state vehicles
- Vaccinations as required by state and facility
- Day, evening, and night shifts to include holidays & weekends as needed
- Travel: May have to transport residents in state vehicles.
- Required to obtain a CPR card.
