Job description: Job DescriptionThe department of Pharmacokinetics, Dynamics, Metabolism & Bioanalytics (PDMB) is seeking a curious and collaborative Scientific Director for our growing Translational PK/PD organization. The Translational PK/PD Director is an expert mathematical modeler and scientist who can lead development of and supervise others in modeling strategy for drug discovery. Directors work with multi-disciplinary discovery teams to enable early, efficient, and successful decisions about PK/PD, modality selection, and dose prediction across all therapeutic areas for small molecule, peptide, and protein therapeutics.The Translational PK/PD Director will serve as an individual contributor and mentor/supervise junior colleagues, with the following responsibilities:Serve as expert representative for PDMB in cross-functional teams, to advance model-informed drug discovery and translational science.Integrate in vitro & in vivo data into systems models (PBPK, PK/PD, mechanistic models) of drug disposition and pharmacology, to support translational and reverse translational efforts across multiple modalities and therapeutic areas;Understand the impact of drug disposition on novel disease biology and pharmacological response (PK/PD) to inform human PK and dose projections;Collaborate across the PDMB organization to develop modeling and simulation strategies to identify and optimize drug candidates;Oversee a group of scientists (in a scientific and/or supervisory role);Mentor / supervise junior colleagues to perform the above duties and to grow the above capabilities.In addition to the responsibilities described above, Directors demonstrate outstanding leadership and communication skills, collaborating across PDMB and with other functional areas to build strategies for quantitative model-informed drug discovery.Note: We are hiring in South San Francisco, CA, Boston, MA or West Point, PA based on candidate preference.Qualifications:Education:

- Master’s (with 11+ years), Ph.D. (with 7+ years) or PharmD (with 9+ years) in a science field and relevant experience listed below
- Record of increasing responsibility and independence in a similar role in pharmaceutical drug development or academia setting
- Record of both internal and external impact in driving model-informed drug discovery and translational PK/PD strategies, using modeling software (e.g., Phoenix, Berkeley Madonna, Monolix, Matlab, R)
- Expert skills in experimental design, mathematical problem solving, critical data analysis/interpretation, and statistics
- Emerging leader in the field of translational PK/PD with a track record of external visibility, through publications, presentations, and/or involvement in professional organizations
- Record of increasing responsibility and leadership in informing drug discovery/development through mathematical modeling
- Demonstrated ability to participate in and to lead interdisciplinary teams, and to scope out, plan, and oversee the work of other scientists
- Expertise in biologics, large molecule, and/or protein therapeutics modeling
- Expertise in PBPK modeling
