Regular hours are Monday-Friday days. The position may be eligible for a hybrid schedule of 1 day per week telework, and some evenings and weekends may be required.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESReserves Supervisor ResponsibilitiesIn collaboration with the Directory of Collections Strategy,


  • Develops, recommends, and implements changes to current methods, systems, and processes to increase productivity, effectiveness and efficiency.



  • Assesses user needs and develops service goals and objectives for Reserves.



  • Maintains awareness of trends in course reserves and in collaboration with Library Technology Services researches, evaluates, and recommends new software, hardware, and alternate procedures as needed.



  • Responsible for creating, developing and updating reserves-related information, promotional materials and training manuals in print and online.



  • Responsible for supervision of Reserves staff including interviewing, hiring, training, assigning and scheduling work, prioritizing and monitoring work, approving leave requests and timesheets, managing cross-unit support projects, conducting annual performance evaluations, and recommending disciplinary action for Reserves technicians and hourly assistants.



  • Oversees the training of library personnel on Reserves policies and procedures.



  • Acts as liaison between Reserves and campus faculty, librarians, UW Libraries and other UWB/CC units and staff for matters pertaining to Reserves, including interpreting and explaining Reserves policies and procedures, assistance with copyright concerns, and providing proxied links to UW restricted resources.



  • Responds to user queries submitted through the Libraries' LibAnswers account.



  • Attends and participates in Campus Library Access Services meetings, facilitating regular communication and training regarding Reserves issues and updates.



  • Coordinates streaming media and digitization projects as needed, including developing procedures, guidelines, and policies.



  • Oversees purchasing, receiving, and providing access to Reserves materials and media materials for the general collection.



  • Oversees the Campus Library's scan for Canvas service, maintaining high quality and ensuring documents meet accessibility standards.



  • Responsible for tracking course reserves material and streaming media statistics.

Circulation Service Desk

  • Under the direction of the Head of Access Services, provides equitable, quality, user-centered service to members of the campus community and to the public



  • Provides routine assistance to library users via phone and in person, answers questions regarding circulation, study rooms, document delivery, media, and Reserves.



  • Performs routine to complex circulation tasks including checking books in and out, booking and canceling study rooms, renewals, assisting with holds & recalls, and answering informational and directional questions.



  • Understands and can explain Library policies and procedures, rules and service policies.



  • Assists library users with general reference questions using basic tools; refers library users to appropriate employees for other services.

General Library and Cross-Unit Support

  • Works strategically and collaboratively within and across functions and units.



  • Participates in individual, unit, and library project work in order to facilitate and improve library processes, activities, and services.



  • Understands and abides by the Libraries Personal Communication Responsibilities.



  • Communicates appropriately, effectively and positively.



  • Plays an active role in staying informed and participating in Libraries and unit meetings, activities, and events.



  • May provide occasional support for other library units including opening and closing the Library.



  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND four years of applicable library technical experience including one year of experience in the area of specialization and one year of lead/supervisory experience OR equivalent education/experience.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with Bothell Campus Library course reserves policies and procedures



  • Experience with scanning equipment and software, streaming technology, and Microsoft Office Suite



  • Familiarity with basic online accessibility standards and copyright guidelines



  • Familiarity with bibliographic tools, and online research databases



  • Familiarity with Alma ILS and Canvas LMS



  • Ability to keyboard minimum of 40 WPM accurately

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Ability to work assigned hours between academic quarters (interim)



  • Scheduling flexibility: willing to adjust schedule to cover opening or closing shifts as needed



  • Requires physical handling of library materials, including lifting, pushing/pulling carts, or carrying materials up to 40 pounds
