Remote work options may be considered on a case-by-case basis and if approved by the CompanyPay: $98,000 - $167,900What you will doThe Customer Development Manager, BJ's Wholesale is responsible for executing strategies and tactics that achieve shipment, consumption, and share goals as defined in the FY Business Plan. This role is highly integrated with internal partners as well as the customer so the incumbent will be required to manage the business end to end with a view to several KPIs (Forecast accuracy, Consumption, Shipments, Trade Spend etc). As the Customer Development Manager, the incumbent manages trade funds within budget and analyzes promotional spending for maximum efficiency. This role is intended to have direct bag responsibility for Self-Care and Wound Care, thus having responsibility for leading the customer driven Category Management Process (CMP), as well as participate fully/lead portions of the Joint Business Plan. The incumbent also participates in special projects and initiatives as assigned.Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Implements 4P's (product, placement, promotion and pricing) business tactics that align with brand strategies and meet customer needs.
- Manages trade budget for assigned area with Trade Investment Efficiency (TIE) a key metric.
- Achieves and works to consistently improve forecast accuracy by working with CPFR partners and full understanding of the business (POS, Inventory, etc).
- Troubleshoots orders, provides status to customers, and seek to resolve all logistical issues and challenges.
- Collaborates with finance, supply chain, brand, customer strategy, trade customization, Omni performance, and category insights and analytics to align efforts and tactics with customer.
- Acts in the role of primary point of contact for a category or categories with the customer and meets frequently with buyers to discuss tactical matters such as progress to JBP goals, promotional initiatives, issues and competitive threats.
- Executes new product launches and provides promotional materials to the customer.
- Conducts analysis to assess effectiveness of promotional activities and strategies.
- Monitors key metrics to measure progress to goals.
- Utilizes syndicated and customer data to incorporate into sales and category growth plans.
- Tailors customer-and product group-specific sales presentations to gain support for recommendations.
- Integrates with internal business partners regularly to deliver Voice of Customer, provide competitive insights, and ensure connectivity/context to company initiatives.
- Complies with company policy and procedures at all times.
- A minimum Bachelors degree required
- 6 years prior consumer sales-related experience required with 4 years of direct sales experience.
- Ability to interpret and communicate complex business data.
- Ability to communicate and negotiate effectively.
- Syndicated data experience required.
- Experience working with a top-ten retailer (i.e. Walgreens, Walmart, Target, CVS) preferred or Club Channel specific Customer highly desired (BJ's, Sam's Club, Costco)
- Demonstrated ability to build strong business relationships.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast paced, complex matrix environment.
- This person will sit out of Fort Washington, PA or Summit, NJ and the position will require up 10-25% travel - fluctuating during the business cycle(s).
- Broad experience across sales, operations, finance, trade, and category, shopper and eCommerce roles is preferred.
- Annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges from $98,000 to $167,900. This takes into account a number of factors including work location, the candidate's skills, experience, education level & other job-related factors.
