  • Lead our North American engineering efforts as a player-coach
  • Set the standard for customer service with our specifiers; ensuring that all of their needs are taken care of from an engineering standpoint, whether the project is custom or off the shelf
  • Drive innovation within North American and support innovation through our German and international sales teams
  • Build successful relationships with our network of sales partners, supporting them to deliver quality, highly engineered solutions
  • Apply your experience and talent to develop, mentor, support, and inspire your team to achieve objectives, deliver a superior level of service and ensure they are the entrepreneurial force behind our global brand.
Specific key outcomes:
1. Ensure that we are the “easiest” high end brand to do business with
2. Drive innovation and quality in all that we do; from simple product modifications to customized lighting applications.Responsibilities:
  • Work with the leadership team to drive key Annual Plan initiatives and projects as either an Interested Party, a Team member or Stakeholder.
  • Providing professional answers, solutions and training to internal and to external customers involving installation Support, Commissioning, Product Modifications, Support of custom projects in the quotation and implementation stages.
o Specific to the Lighting Industry: produce lighting layouts, design documents, and application drawings.
  • Represent North America to the global R and D team, ensuring alignment between activities and North American product and compliance requirements and global requirements
  • Facilitate the on-time and cost-effective launch of new products & services into the North American marketplace.
  • Work with all appropriate compliance organizations to ensure products meet all applicable regulations.
  • Support the business to achieve each year's fiscal goals including Sales and Margin maximization, Expense Management and to exceed budgeted EBIT.
  • Build strong relationships with Sales Partners, ensuring their teams are conversant with our products and can deliver accurate brand and product representation.
  • Create and effectively manage the Engineering budget.
  • Ensure specification sheets align with North American specifier needs.
  • Support internal production team and external supply chain to ensure products and components meet specifications and are “fit for purpose”.
  • Collaborate with inside sales and marketing to launch products and projects to the North American audience and support our agent and distributor partners.
  • Lead by example, support and motivate our broader team in a drive for excellence.
  • Contribute to the management and direction of the business.
  • Understand, promote and work within all company policies.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or similar
  • Supportive 'hands-on' leader, able to harness individual talents, and inspire a clear sense of direction.
  • Excellent communication skills and a desire to serve customers - able to engage and work with people from diverse backgrounds across multiple teams.
  • Able to think strategically, seek continuous improvement, and contribute at a senior level.
  • Strong ability to solve problems, offer solutions and make decisions.
  • Able to think creatively and innovatively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and uncompromising approach to quality.
  • Well-developed organizational and time management skills, with a result focus.
  • SolidWorks experience required
  • AGI32 or Dialux experience preferred
SOLID WORKS
Experience:
  • Significant prior experience in a senior engineering role, ideally within the lighting industry.
  • Strong preference for experience with engineered solutions involving customer service
  • Strong technical product aptitude, ideally of lighting, electrical and associated control systems.
Travel requirements:
  • Monthly opportunities to travel to trade shows throughout North America.
  • Ability to travel on short notice occasionally to support installations or customer issues
  • Overseas trips once or twice a year.
