This role is responsible for fostering engagement with educators through professional development opportunities aimed at growing participation in The Henry Ford's inHub learning community, with a particular focus on our experiential learning program, Invention Convention Michigan. This role primarily targets educators working with students in the city of Detroit and across Wayne County. The Specialist will work collaboratively across teams to build awareness, strengthen relationships, and activate connections with Detroit and Wayne County-based educators, schools and community partners.This position is a full-time hybrid role that reports to Sr. Manager, Affiliate Relations and Event Operations and works closely with the Manager, Educator Engagement & Professional Development.Please note, this team will begin reviewing applications the week of June 9th.Essential ResponsibilitiesCommunication & Outreach
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of The Henry Ford's learning strategy, principles, and learning portfolio of resources and experiences to effectively communicate this knowledge to Detroit-based and Wayne County educators, organizations, and other stakeholders
- Deliver professional development and informational sessions regarding The Henry Ford's learning portfolio, including its resources and experiences
- Deliver professional development and informational sessions on The Henry Ford's learning portfolio, including its resources and experiences, through onsite, offsite, online, and hybrid formats
- Actively seek, build, and strengthen relationships with Detroit educators, schools, and community partners to increase engagement and awareness of The Henry Ford's learning portfolio, including Invention Convention Michigan to enhance impact within the Detroit education community
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to provide targeted professional development and support to educators in Detroit and Wayne County
- Coordinate and support onsite, offsite, hybrid, virtual events targeting Detroit and Wayne County-based educators, including but not limited to the Maker STEM Summit, Wayne State University Invention Convention Hub event, Invention Convention Michigan state finals, and Educators-in-Residence programs
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., education, marketing, operations) to ensure seamless event logistics, such as scheduling, content delivery, technology requirements, and participant engagement
- Work with external partners such as schools, universities, community organizations, and vendors to ensure event success and ensure that all resources and materials are delivered on time and within scope
- Track, maintain, and report on outreach efforts with resulting impact initiatives aimed towards Detroit-based and Wayne County educators providing regular updates through reports and presentations
- Contribute to the effective management and resolution of challenges, problems, and opportunities within the team, ensuring that issues are addressed promptly and with collaborative solutions
- Assist the Learning Engagement, Outreach, and Impact team by taking on special projects and tasks as needed, offering support for key initiatives that drive the team's overall success
- 2 or more years of experience developing formal and/or informal educational experiences and cultivating relationships with diverse audiences
- Bachelor's degree in education, history, STEM, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience in facilitating both in-person and virtual educator professional development sessions
- Experience supporting educational programs for both adults and youth, with focus on engagement and growth
- Frequent travel to the Detroit metro is required
- This is a hybrid role with the following on-site/off-site/remote distribution: 40% on-site, 40% off-site, and 20% remote
- Ability to workdays, evenings, and weekends as required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with an engaging and dynamic presentation style
- Strong ability to build relationships and demonstrate excellent organizational skills
- Capable of working both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, with a strong aptitude for problem-solving and diverse program development
- Familiarity with current trends in K-12 education, STEM education, and development of 21st-century skills is desirable
- Experience working with or collaborating with Detroit schools, districts, and educational networks is highly preferred
- Proficient in computer programs (e.g MS Office Suite) and emerging media platforms
- Willingness to occasionally travel nationwide as required
