Job description: The Physician Assistant focuses on diagnosing, treating, and preventing mental illnesses and emotional disorders. They evaluate patients' mental and physical well-being, create personalized treatment plans, and prescribe medication as needed. This role plays a crucial part in supporting patients' needs and promoting improved mental health outcomes. - Graduate of a Physician Assistant Program
- 2+ years of experience in mental health direct patient care
- In-depth knowledge of the DSM-5 and its application in diagnosing mental health conditions.
- Understanding of psychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, substance use disorders, personality disorders, PTSD, eating disorders, and other mood or psychotic disorders.
- Knowledge of both pharmacological treatments and psychotherapeutic techniques
- Understanding of medication management protocols, including how to monitor for effectiveness, adjust dosages, and manage side effects or adverse reactions.
- Strong diagnostic and assessment skills, with the ability to evaluate complex psychiatric conditions and provide accurate diagnoses.
- Ability to provide emotional support and understanding, especially for patients facing challenging mental health conditions.
- Exhibit good judgement, honesty, integrity, responsibility, and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other teams to achieve goals.
- Strong working proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Calendar, Teams Chat, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. And in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Maintains strict confidentiality handling client information in compliance with HIPAA guidelines and Ellie policies.
- Demonstrates awareness, inclusivity, sensitivity, humility, and experience in working with individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds, socioeconomic statuses, sexual orientations, gender identities, and other various aspects of culture
- Diagnose and treat various mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and substance abuse disorders.
- Conduct complete history and physical assessments and follow up appointments.
- Develop individualized treatment plans, incorporating therapy, medication, and lifestyle changes.
- Prescribe and manage medications, monitoring their effectiveness and potential side effects.
- Educate patients on medication management, including the importance of consistency, side effect management, and potential long-term impacts. Collaborate with therapists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide education to patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, coping mechanisms, and resources for additional support.
- Document all patient interactions, assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and medication changes in compliance with legal, ethical, and institutional standards.
- Offer immediate support for patients experiencing acute psychiatric crises, including suicidal ideation, violent tendencies, or severe distress.
- Develop long-term care plans for ongoing care beyond initial treatment, including relapse prevention strategies, lifestyle changes, and long-term medication management.
- Participate in case reviews, multidisciplinary team meetings, and clinical supervision.
- Ensure a patient-centered approach by fostering a supportive and empathetic therapeutic environment.
- Stay updated on advancements in psychiatric treatments and research.
Expected salary: $126000 - 127000 per year
