For more details, please see: andThis position requires you to maintain internet service and a mobile phone with voice and data plans to be used when required for work.This position provides life/work balance with typically a 40-hour work week and travel generally limited to training (e.g., conferences/courses).PurposeWe are seeking a Senior Functional Data Analyst to join the D2I Functional team. This role will be responsible for supporting analytics deliverable development with discovery and documentation of requirements, data sources, field definitions, and business questions; assisting with validation, researching, and resolution of data anomalies and exceptions; participating in user acceptance testing; and documenting business definitions and technical specifications in the data catalog. They will work with the Functional team and data stewards to document source metadata in the data catalog and will maintain robust curation processes and standards. They will also collaborate with Analytics team members in the development of transformed data layers for campus staff to use for self-service analytics and provide excellent customer support to those staff. As a senior member of the D2I team, they will coordinate with other team members to ensure collaboration and consistent forward progress.Responsibilities

• Support a variety of analytical solutions by conducting complex data analysis and profiling; work with subject matter experts and other team members to document data definitions, business rules and other needed metadata.


• Work with other D2I teams to ensure data quality and validate developed reporting solutions


• Coordinate data spoke provisioning, participate in the development of transformed data layers, and provide support to campus customers.


• Communicate complex concepts clearly to technical and non-technical staff, verbally and in writing.


• Document, maintain and continuously improve the quality of the D2I processes and knowledge base.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or at least 2 years of professional experience in information technology or related field.


• Demonstrated proficiency in data analysis, and a passion for using data to answer questions and solve problems.


• History of working independently and in dynamic team environments.


• Solid ability to analyze and interpret data.


• Experience analyzing business processes and related data patterns and track record of identifying issues and opportunities via that analysis.


• Proven prioritization and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.


• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders to gather data requirements and produce appropriate analysis.


• Experience querying data to perform ad hoc analysis and deliver meaningful results.


• Strong attention to detail and an analytical mindset.


• Familiarity with using software such as Python, R, SAS, SPSS, or SQL to query, manipulate and analyze data.


• Excellent knowledge of databases, data flows, and data manipulation in both operational and analytical contexts.


• Critical thinking and creative problem solving.


• Excellent interpersonal skills to positively contribute to collaborative team, influence without authority, and thoughtfully and productively give and receive feedback.

• 4 years of professional experience in information technology or related field.


• Experience in higher education administration, programming, or analysis.


• Interest in higher education data, processes, and progress.


• Broad and deep knowledge of UT software and data systems.


• Familiarity with UT Austin's administrative computing environment.


• Proficiency using software such as Python, R, SAS, SPSS, or SQL to query, manipulate and analyze data.


• General understanding of programming concepts and methodology.


• Familiarity with using APIs to retrieve data.


• Knowledge of federal education law and policies related to education records.


• Experience with metadata management software.


• Experience using Agile methodologies.

Salary Range$78,373 + depending on qualificationsWorking Conditions

• Location up to 100% remote at employee discretion with office work environment also an option. Majority of team is located in Austin, TX, and working remotely with infrequent in-office presence.
