The idea candidate will bridge technical leadership with an understanding of actuarial processes, enabling high-impact digital transformation within the actuarial and risk domains.What you'll be doingTechnical
- Responsible for collaborating with Actuarial Teams, IT and Enterprise Architecture to set the platform strategy direction on the design & development of applications systems while demonstrating an understanding of the broad implications & financial impacts of proposed solutions on operational & infrastructure support.
- Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of cloud -native applications on AWS tailored to actuarial and financial modeling needs.
- Provides subject matter expertise to team members and internal/external stakeholders on complex assignments/projects.
- Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. senior management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches; can influence outcomes without directing or commanding.
- Demonstrated strong project management leadership skills including, critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive environment, under pressure, and meeting deadlines.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends and proactively integrate innovations into current and future solution designs
- Manage a technology team that supports all technical deliveries specific to Actuarial/Valuation work
- Develop a holistic understanding of actuarial processes and strategic goals - ensuring IT solutions align with long-term business objectives.
- Facilitate cross-team collaboration within IT - preventing silos, ensuring awareness across IT teams, and promoting efficient coordination.
- Act as a trusted advisor - proactively identifying and recommending technological opportunities to improve actuarial operations.
- Ensure consistent communication within IT management - reducing misalignment, last-minute surprises, and execution delays.
- Lead strategic discussions between IT and actuarial - crafting a shared vision for the future, fostering long-term collaboration, and improving IT's ability to partner effectively.
- 8+ years of IT experience, including 5+ years of demonstrated experience with financial systems.
- Understanding of Actuarial data, reporting and modeling systems - Moody's AXIS, GlaaS etc.
- Proven experience managing, designing and implementing cloud architectures on AWS.
- Deep understanding of AWS Services such as EC2, Redshift, Lambda, CDS, SQS and other AWS Services. Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like AWS CDK and CloudFormation.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, security scanning and tools (CI/CI pipelines, Git, Gitlab etc.,)
- Experience with Cloud and hybrid cloud architectures.
- Background in enterprise-level application development or migration to AWS.
- Experience with modern data platforms (Dataiku, Redshift, PostgreSQL) and visualization/Reporting tools (Tableau, Power BI, Quick Sight)
- Experience with Appian and Blue Prism Tools.
- FSA or ASA Designation with actuarial experience.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional or Associate level).
