Job description: Job Description:Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our Compliance team as a Compliance Consultant!About the roleAs a Compliance Consultant, you will lead and support key oversight functions across all business divisions. Your primary responsibilities will include complaints oversight, quality assurance guidance, and contributions to compliance monitoring activities. You will identify and assess compliance risks, develop practical recommendations, and support initiatives that drive long-term, sustainable growth while promoting adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.What you will do


  • Serve as the compliance liaison to the Operations Complaint department and oversee the complaint management function

  • Utilize data analysis tools to track and evaluate complaint trends, inform reporting, support risk mitigation efforts, and ensure alignment between complaint operations and compliance requirements

  • Act as the compliance point of contact for Quality Assurance (QA), reviewing and advising on QA practices to ensure they align with current and evolving regulatory requirements

  • Complete compliance monitorings by following established procedures, documenting results, and escalating concerns as needed

  • Serve as a back-up for market conduct examination management, including coordinating internal responses and document collection

  • Independently manage technically complex compliance projects with minimal supervision

  • Stay current on industry issues and regulatory developments relevant to assigned areas

  • Perform ad-hoc research and analysis to support senior management

  • Provides training and mentorship to less experienced team members

Compensation$85,400 - $142,300 annually plus eligibility for Company Annual BonusWho you are


  • High school diploma required

  • College degree or equivalent experience required

  • 8+ years of relevant compliance and/or industry experience, including 3 years managing a compliance function

  • Experience with regulatory compliance, complaints management, and quality assurance environment required

  • Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and organizational skills and executive judgment

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to evaluate data and identify trends to support complaint oversight and compliance risk mitigation

  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally, particularly as a liaison between Compliance, Operations, and Quality Assurance teams. Must be comfortable collaborating across levels, including with senior leadership

  • Able to independently manage and complete compliance monitorings following established procedures, with attention to documentation accuracy and escalation protocols

  • Strategic thinker with a process-oriented mindset; able to identify gaps or opportunities in QA or complaint workflows and recommend improvements aligned with regulatory expectations

  • Demonstrates sound judgment and a broader organizational awareness when balancing regulatory requirements with operational realities

  • Skilled in mentoring junior team members and fostering a culture of continuous learning and compliance awareness

  • Clear and confident communicator - capable of explaining complex compliance issues in a way that is accessible and actionable for business partners

  • Demonstrates adaptability and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, evolving regulatory environment
