Job description: The Data Entry Clerk for Revenue Cycle is responsible for accurately inputting and managing data related to patient billing, payments, and insurance claims. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of the healthcare organization’s revenue cycle, from patient registration to final payment collection. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proficient in data management systems, and knowledgeable about healthcare billing processes.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 Accurately enter patient information, billing details, and insurance data into the electronic practice

management system.

 Update and maintain records of patient interactions, payments, and adjustments in the system.

 Verify and correct discrepancies in patient billing and demographic information to ensure accuracy.

 Assist in the processing of insurance claims, including verifying patient coverage, entering claim

information, releasing claims to the clearing house, and follow up on pending claims.

 Coordinate with billing and coding teams to ensure all necessary information is included for accurate

claims submission

 Support the collections process by entering payment data and assisting in the resolution of outstanding

balances.

 Regularly review data entries to ensure accuracy and compliance with healthcare regulations, including

HIPAA.

 Identify and report any inconsistencies or errors in the data entry process to the Revenue Cycle

Supervisor.

 Participate in audits and quality control checks to maintain high standards of data accuracy.

 Collaborate with other departments, such as patient registration, coding, and finance to streamline data

flow and improve the efficiency of the revenue cycle.

 Respond to inquiries from internal staff regarding billing information.

 Ensure all data entry activities comply with healthcare regulations, including patient privacy and data

security standards.

 Handle sensitive patient information with the highest level of confidentiality and integrity.MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:Updated August 2024

 Proficiency in data entry and database management

 Strong attention to detail and accuracy

 Excellent organizational and time management skills

 Ability to work independently and as part of a team

 Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

 Knowledge of healthcare billing processes and terminology

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 Certification in medical billing, coding or data entry

 Previous experience in data entry
