Position Summary:

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a dependable and customer-focused Store Clerk to support retail operations at one of our convenient neighborhood locations. This position is essential in delivering excellent customer service, maintaining optimal store appearance, and ensuring efficient merchandise handling. The Store Clerk will be responsible for assisting customers, managing inventory, executing merchandising plans, and supporting overall store cleanliness and organization.

    Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, greeting them warmly, responding to inquiries, and providing assistance in locating merchandise.
  • Receive and unload deliveries, carefully inspecting products for accuracy and quality before storing items in stockroom or placing them directly on the sales floor.
  • Stock shelves according to company plan-o-grams, rotate merchandise to ensure freshness, and maintain an organized, visually appealing sales floor.
  • Build and maintain attractive product displays and promotional setups to enhance the shopping experience and drive sales.
  • Operate cash registers and point-of-sale systems to process customer transactions accurately, including handling cash, credit, and other payment methods.
  • Conduct regular housekeeping duties to maintain cleanliness in the store, including sweeping, mopping floors, cleaning restrooms, organizing stockrooms, and removing trash and recycling.
  • Assist with inventory management tasks such as stock counts, reporting discrepancies, and ordering merchandise using handheld scanners or other company tools.
  • Adhere strictly to company policies, safety standards, and loss prevention procedures to protect company assets and ensure a safe shopping environment for customers and employees.
    Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
  • Basic mathematical skills for cash handling and register operations.
  • Ability to understand and follow merchandising instructions, plan-o-grams, and store procedures.
  • Reliable and punctual, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Physical ability to perform manual tasks such as lifting, standing for extended periods, and moving merchandise.

Work Environment:

This role requires working in a retail store setting with frequent interaction with customers and team members. The Store Clerk will often perform physically active duties, including stocking shelves and maintaining the store’s cleanliness.
