About the position
Seton College at the University of Mount Saint Vincent invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor position of English. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track position with a one-year renewable contract, set to begin in the Summer of 2024 (August 16). The teaching load for this role is 24 credits per 12-month period, and the position involves teaching, service, and advising Seton College students. The ideal candidate will be an outstanding educator with demonstrated experience using active learning methodologies and effective teaching practices tailored for first-generation college students. A Master's degree in a related field is required, while a terminal degree is preferred. Candidates should possess a genuine interest and expertise in working with first-generation college students from diverse cultural backgrounds. Teaching responsibilities will be conducted fully in-person, although one remote workday is permitted during most weeks. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an engaging and welcoming classroom environment that promotes high standards and inclusivity. They will actively contribute to a professional learning community by participating in faculty-led workshops that foster pedagogical learning and growth. Additionally, the candidate will be present and available to students on campus during regular hours of operation, advise Seton College students, serve on faculty committees, and attend faculty meetings. Some weekends and evenings may be required as part of the role.

- Requirements
- A doctorate in the subject area is preferred; a Master's degree is required. ,
- Enthusiasm for undergraduate teaching, experience with active-learning pedagogy, and a willingness to engage students beyond formal classroom experiences. ,
- A willingness to continuously improve their pedagogical skills and an openness to working within a collaborative learning community of other educators and students. ,
