SALARY: Governed by Salary Resolution Section 413
Transfer applications may be submitted at any time and are available to current Fresno County employees occupying permanent positions (including employees that are on probationary status; extra-help personnel are not eligible) who meet the minimum qualifications for the job classification in which they are requesting to transfer.
- Under the transfer process, employees can move laterally within or between classifications. For the voluntary demotion process, employees can move to a classification with a lower salary range than the one they currently occupy. Applications may be submitted when an employee is requesting to transfer to another position:
- In the same classification, in another department (lateral transfer);
- In a different classification which has the same or lower salary range as determined by Salary Resolution Section 100, Alphabetical Position Listing, in the same or another department (transfer/voluntary demotion); or
- In a different classification within the same or different salary band in the same or another department (Senior Management Compensation Plan classes only) - transfer or voluntary demotion determination made by the Director of Human Resources. Employees submitting transfer applications will be notified in writing of whether their application has been accepted or rejected, including the reason if rejected. Accepted transfer applications will be kept on file for six (6) months in the Department of Human Resources, Employment Services Division. Human Resources will inform departments of transfer applications on file as vacancies occur, but it will be the employee's responsibility to contact departments regarding transfer opportunities. Transfers must be authorized by the department head involved and the Department of Human Resources.
