About the position The Director of Finance & Accounting will play a crucial role in driving the business forward for a small start-up team in the greater DMV area. This position requires a candidate with a start-up mentality who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a strong background in B2C finance. The director will have the autonomy to manage financial processes, analyze data for actionable insights, and foster a collaborative team environment focused on growth and development. Responsibilities • Craft and execute strategic financial plans that align with the company's overall objectives, ensuring long-term financial stability and growth. , • Oversee the preparation, analysis, and presentation of precise and timely financial statements, reports, and forecasts to senior management and stakeholders. , • Collaborate cross-functionally to design and improve financial processes, operational efficiency, and overall business performance. , • Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads, ensuring effective resource allocation and alignment with financial targets. , • Compile and analyze financial data to extract actionable insights that guide informed decision-making at all levels of the company. , • Foster a collaborative and growth-oriented environment within the finance and accounting team, encouraging professional development and nurturing talent. , • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures that adhere to best practices, promoting transparency and consistency. , • Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners, including parent company, auditors, and banks. , • Mentor and guide the finance and accounting team, ensuring a high level of performance, professional growth, and alignment with the company's objectives. , • Effectively convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders, fostering a clear understanding of financial strategies and insights. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. , • Proven experience (5+ years) in progressively responsible finance and accounting roles, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity. , • Thorough grasp of financial management principles, encompassing GAAP, SOX compliance, and financial reporting. , • Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex financial data to inform strategic decision making. , • Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
