HIRING NOW | Junior Associate | 100% REMOTE California | National Defense Litigation (Asbestos/Talc)| Up to $150k
A boutique 40-attorney defense litigation firm with a clear niche and a national trial platform. Join a focused trial team (reporting to a senior trial partner) that tries cases across the U.S. for large corporate clients—travel required—with immediate opportunities in asbestos, and talcum powder.
Highlights:
• Go to trial—now: Immediate first/second-chair opportunities on complex, high-stakes defense cases.
• National exposure: Support coordinating counsel across jurisdictions while building your own trial themes.
• Tight-knit team: Work closely with senior trial lawyers—not “all 40 attorneys”—so you get real ownership and mentorship.
Role:
• Build case defenses and develop trial strategy with autonomy and guidance as needed.
• Support national trial/coordinating counsel to manage multi-jurisdiction litigation.
• Analyze state/federal law for motions and pre-trial submissions; draft original, complex motions.
• Draft and respond to discovery; interview and prep witnesses for depositions/hearings.
• Take/defend lay, expert, and corporate rep depositions; argue motions.
• Communicate with clients; draft pre-trial reports and risk analyses; participate in mediations, status and settlement conferences.
• Shape case-resolution strategies; supervise paralegals and coordinate with co-defense counsel.
• Negotiate settlements; network to develop client relationships; contribute to bar/community leadership.
• Be a resource to colleagues and support Shareholders/Partners/Senior Counsel.
What you bring
• 1+ years of insurance defense (or comparable complex defense) experience.
• JD from an accredited law school; admitted to at least one state bar (CA preferred).
• Proven success in a billable environment; client-service mindset.
• Excellent written/oral advocacy, prioritization, and deadline discipline in a fast-paced setting.
• Team-first approach; strong tech skills (Microsoft Office & litigation databases); professional, detail-driven, and growth-oriented.
Compensation & benefits
• Base up to $150,000 (competitive, commensurate with experience and trial record).
• Health, dental, vision, 401(k) (with matching), flexible schedule, FSA, life insurance, paid time off, parental leave, referral program, unlimited vacation, employee discounts, and discretionary bonuses.
