As a Dock Operations Specialist, you will play a critical role in the success of our operations, working closely with our team to ensure that freight is handled and transported safely and efficiently. **Key Responsibilities** As a Dock Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: * Performing freight handling using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks * Verifying documentation matches freight description, using current electronic or manual systems * Securing freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies, such as pallets, straps, and rope * Recouping and repairing damaged freight when necessary * Verifying and completing required documentation and reports * Assisting customers with freight and freight documentation as needed * Performing hostling duties if required * Complying with all applicable laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures **Essential Qualifications** To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent, preferred * Must be at least 18 years of age * Prior experience in warehousing, freight handling, and/or forklift operations preferred * If hostler/yard mule duties are required, experience preferred * Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator * Basic written and verbal communication skills * Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week, to lift dock plates weighing approximately 100 pounds, and to open trailer doors requiring approximately 75 pounds of lift force, up to several times per day or more * Ability to bend, twist, squat, pushing/pulling freight throughout shift * Ability to work independently and/or as a team member * Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred **Working Conditions** As a Dock Operations Specialist, you will work in a dock environment, which may expose you to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, and noise. You may also be required to work varying hours due to operational needs.
