Director, Global Affairs - U.S. Federal Policy

The Opportunity
Netflix is seeking a seasoned Director to join its Global Affairs team focusing on U.S. Federal Affairs. The UCAN team advocates for a legislative and regulatory environment conducive to Netflix’s growth and innovation in the U.S. and Canada, while serving as a trusted advisor to business teams across the company. This role will be an integral addition to the Washington office, and will report to the Head of U.S. Federal Affairs.
Key Responsibilities
In this role you will:
• Develop Netflix’s federal policy strategy across priority issues, including entertainment and content production, tax, trade, competition, and privacy and data security.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with U.S. federal policymakers, including members of Congress, executive branch officials, and their staff.
• Advise the business on key policy developments and their impact on Netflix.
• Partner with internal business teams to proactively identify policy risks and opportunities, and translate complex issues into actionable strategies.
• Develop high-impact advocacy materials, including policy strategy, legislative analysis, talking points, and presentations.
• Build coalitions with industry and third party organizations.
• Help manage external consultants and associations to ensure alignment.
Requirements
• A minimum of 15 years experience in U.S. federal public policy and/or advocacy, including in the Congress, federal agencies, major corporations, law firms, trade associations, and/or civil society.
• Experience in technology, media, tax, trade, and/or competition policy is preferred.
• Experience with Congressional committees relevant to the above areas, including but not limited to House Ways & Means, Energy & Commerce, and Judiciary; Senate Finance, Commerce and Judiciary.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and experience in fast-paced, cross-functional collaboration.
• Excellent judgment, research skills, and attention to detail.
• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $400,000 - $700,000.
