Job Highlights and Overview
This part-time position offers a unique opportunity to work with youth in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. As a Youth Volleyball Clinic Coach, you will be responsible for teaching introductory through intermediate skills, rules of play, and the Y Way to Play using your own and provided lesson plans. You will also assist in officiating, parent interaction, and ensuring clinics run smoothly and safely. Our ideal candidate is someone who is not only knowledgeable about the sport but also has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young athletes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach introductory through intermediate volleyball skills, rules of play, and the Y Way to Play to youth participants
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans to promote skill development and fun
- Assist in officiating and ensuring clinics run smoothly and safely
- Interact with parents and provide feedback on participant progress
- Organize and engage groups of children in a positive and supportive manner
- Communicate effectively with staff, host staff, and community members
Essential Qualifications:
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must meet the following essential qualifications:
- Age 16 years or older
- Significant involvement and understanding of the sport of volleyball
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification within 30 days of hire (we can assist with this requirement)
- Ability to break down a skill and explain it in a way that participants can understand and perform
- Ability to organize and engage groups of children
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
While not required, the following preferred qualifications will be considered an asset:
- Previous experience coaching or instructing youth volleyball clinics
- Bilingual skills (Spanish and English)
- Experience working with children of diverse ages and skill levels
- Knowledge of the Y Way to Play and YMCA policies and procedures
