Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced and passionate individual to join our team as a Teaching Assistant - Grader - BMEI. This remote opportunity offers a competitive salary, a vibrant community, and the chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of high school students. As a Teaching Assistant - Grader - BMEI, you'll work closely with our instructors to deliver an engaging and interactive online course experience, focusing on biomedical engineering and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
    • Be present and available for the duration of the course
    • Login to the online course at least five of seven days per week
    • Be comfortable with the course material and able to relate it to high school students
    • Prepare to spend time independently reviewing course materials and completing the online training program prior to the first day of the course
    • Ensure child safety protocols are upheld
    • Work with the instructor to monitor the discussion board, answer student emails, and submit assignment feedback and grades for Discussions, Asking Questions, Reflections, and Peer Reviews
    • Attend one-on-one design reviews between the instructor and each student three times during the session
    • Work with the instructor to develop a sense of community for the high school students participating in this online class
    • Respond to all student questions within 24 hours
    • Assist students remotely as they conduct various lab activities and projects throughout the course
    • Host at least one study session hour each week, with the instructor arranging for at least three study session hours each week
  • Grader Responsibilities:
    • Ensure students receive their graded work promptly within 1-2 days of the assignment due date
    • Provide detailed feedback to students so they can learn from the activity and improve their future performance
    • Grade all assignments and assist with grading other student work
    • Post grades to the learning management system in a timely manner

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School/GED
  • Completed first year of an Engineering Degree and demonstrate knowledge of the content covered in BMEI

Preferred Qualifications

  • Special preference will be given to students who have completed EN.580.111 Biomedical Engineering and Design

Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certifications

You'll need to be willing to learn how to use Microsoft Teams, Canvas, and Zoom.

Physical Requirements

You'll need access to a remote/virtual work environment for training prior to the course and during the course.

Compensation and Benefits
