Job Overview and Key Responsibilities
As an Experienced Aviation Intern, Flight School - Flight Operations and Training Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting our Flight Operations team in achieving divisional goals and contributing to the overall success of Delta Air Lines. You will have the opportunity to work with a specific team, such as Training and Standards, Line Operations, or the Chief Pilot Office, and collaborate with other interns to complete a team assignment that will be presented to Flight Operations Leadership at the end of the semester.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in the development and implementation of training programs for pilots and other flight operations personnel
 - Supporting the collection and analysis of flight planning data and other operational metrics
 - Conducting research and providing recommendations on regulatory compliance and industry best practices
 - Collaborating with other departments, such as Flight Safety, Operations Customer Center, Technical Operations, In-Flight Service, and Airport Customer Service, to gain a comprehensive understanding of the airline's operations
 - Developing and maintaining effective relationships with colleagues, managers, and other stakeholders
 - Participating in meetings, conferences, and other events to stay informed about industry developments and best practices
 
Essential Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications and skills:
- Be at least 18 years of age and have authorization to work in the United States
 - Possess a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency
 - Embrace diverse people, thinking, and styles, and consistently prioritize safety and security of self, others, and personal data
 - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to process complicated issues quickly and maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information
 - Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Access, Word, Excel, Forms, PowerPoint, and Smartsheet
 - Demonstrated competency in skills that include, but are not limited to, managing and working with training equipment, collecting and analyzing flight planning data, reading and summarizing new regulations, and the ability to quickly relate to the advanced jet environment
 - A competitive GPA and good academic standing with your university
 - Ability to work onsite in the Atlanta, GA office
 - Ability to commit to the internship timeline: January 13th, 2025 through May 2nd, 2025
 - Minimum of 150 total flight hours required, actively pursuing either a Commercial Pilot Certificate or a Certified Flight Instructor Certificate (CFI)
 - Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program with an aviation discipline
