Position Overview

The Remote English Language Learners (ELL) Tutor will partner with classroom teachers to deliver targeted, one‑on‑one or small‑group instruction for students who are non‑English speaking or have limited English proficiency (LEP). Key Responsibilities

• Provide individualized or small‑group tutoring sessions that align with each student’s language proficiency level and academic goals.

Essential Qualifications

• Within 45 days of hire, acquire Alaska paraprofessional status through one of the following pathways:
  • Completion of 48 semester credits at a regionally accredited college or university, or
  • Score of 459 or higher on the ETS Paraprofessional Assessment, or
  • Pass the WorkKeys by ACT assessment, or
  • Successful completion of the ASD‑provided Master Teacher paraprofessional training program.
• Demonstrated organizational and record‑keeping abilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on customer service and professionalism.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and to inspire confidence among students, families, and staff.

• Formal training in ESL/ESL‑II or certification such as TESOL, CELTA, or state‑approved ESL credentials.
