As a UI Designer on the OnBrand team, you will play a critical role in helping us achieve our mission and ambition.

Job Overview and Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced UI Designer to join our OnBrand team, working remotely from anywhere in the United States. As a UI Designer, you will be responsible for executing visual design across all stages of the project life cycle, from concept to final hand-off to engineering. You will create beautiful and effective email campaigns that resonate with our cardholders and drive results for our marketing partners and the business as a whole. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing the AmEx brand look and feel across digital experiences, applying color, typographic styles, and visual identities to further visually communicate the American Express brand in ways that align with best practices and design principles.
  • Designing new acquisition pages for both American Express and its cobranded properties, translating strategy and marketing goals into elegant visual experiences.
  • Working closely with engineers and QA to ensure that designs are technically feasible and meet the needs of customers and marketing partners.
  • Applying interaction models, design system components, and visual identity in line with American Express brand guidelines and design language.
  • Collaborating with content strategists, account managers, project managers, copywriters, and engineers to see your work through from concept to completion.
  • Clearly articulating and presenting concepts to senior design leadership.
  • Championing accessibility and ensuring that all designs meet accessibility best practices.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong and diverse skillset in relevant areas, including:

  • A growing craft practitioner with experience working within best practices for responsive design.
  • Experience working across multiple digital channels, such as email and web.
  • Strong understanding of email design best practices.
  • Strong proficiency in Figma and experience utilizing design systems and patterns.
  • A customer-first mindset with a good balance of design needs and business acumen.
  • Understanding of email platforms, such as Salesforce and Cheetah Mail.
  • Experience working with content strategists, account managers, project managers, and engineers to see your work through from concept to completion.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire partners and stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment.
  • High degree of organization, initiative, and personal accountability.
  • Comfortable working with team members spread across multiple locations and time zones, in a matrix environment.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

While not required, the following qualifications and experience are preferred:

  • 3 years of experience in Visual Design, Interaction Design, or Experience Design.
  • Experience working independently.
  • Bachelor's degree in a design-related field.
  • Current understanding of responsive design, mobile interfaces, and content management systems.
  • Strong computer skills and firm grasp of Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office product suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience working within style guides, pattern libraries, and other design solutions that drive design across large organizations.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $60,000 to $110,000 per year, depending on experience, as well as a range of benefits and perks, including:
