Clinic Rx Refill Prior Authorization Specialist - Remote**
• *This position is fully remote. Applicants must reside in the State of Oregon in order to qualify for this position**
• JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
• Responsible for assisting with prescription refill requests based on physician managed medication refill protocols. Responsible for prior-authorization process for those medications ordered for patients whose insurance plan requires documentation of medical necessity. Maintains patient records, ensures that test results fall within practitioner protocol and communicates as needed with practitioner and other health team members when questions and/or concerns arise.
• DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
• Samaritan’s Centralized Refill Center takes action on prescription refill requests for our primary care clinics. Following strict protocols, we are able to fill or prepare the refill for approval. Streamlining this process helps to ensure our patients receive refills as quickly as possible.
• EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One (1) of the following required:
• Certified Medical Assistant, and previous medical back office experience/medical assistant training or completion of a MA/Certified Medical Assistant program.
• One (1) year of Pharmacy Technician experience.

• Clerical - Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
• Confidentiality - Knowledge of State and Federal (HIPAA) laws pertaining to confidentiality of protected health information. Ability to comply with laws and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
• Time Management- Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work to complete within required time frames and to follow-up on pending issues. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in dynamic fast-paced environments and under pressure.
