Experienced Aviation Career‑Technical Education (CTE) Ground Instructor – Private Pilot & Drone Operations Teacher for Michigan High Schools (CFI/CFII) – Immediate Start, Remote Coordination

Remote, USA Full-time Posted 2025-11-03

Why Join Our Visionary Aviation Education Team?

At Workwarp, we partner with forward‑thinking educational institutions to transform the way tomorrow’s aviation professionals are trained. Our collaboration with Eaton RESA Career Preparation Center (CPC), Crosswinds Aviation, and Capital Regional Airport creates a dynamic, high‑impact CTE program that blends traditional private‑pilot ground school, cutting‑edge drone operations, and advanced flight‑operations instruction (FOI). If you are passionate about inspiring high‑school juniors and seniors, shaping curriculum, and guiding the next generation of pilots, you’ve found a home where your expertise will thrive.

Position Overview – What You’ll Do Every Day

Core Teaching Responsibilities

  • Deliver high‑impact ground school instruction for a private‑pilot curriculum, covering aerodynamics, aircraft systems, flight regulations, navigation, and safety procedures.
  • Integrate drone technology into lesson plans, teaching students about UAV operations, regulatory compliance, and real‑world applications in aviation and beyond.
  • Facilitate Flight‑Operations Instruction (FOI) for second‑year students, providing deeper insight into advanced flight planning, weather analysis, and pilot decision‑making.
  • Teach one to two daily sections (each 2 hours) from late August through mid‑June, adapting schedules based on enrollment demand.
  • Prepare and administer quizzes, exams, and practical assessments, ensuring fair, consistent evaluation of student performance.

Program Management & Coordination

  • Maintain attendance records, gradebooks, and certification documentation in alignment with Eaton RESA CPC reporting timelines.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between high‑school students, faculty, and post‑secondary partners (Crosswinds Aviation, Capital Regional Airport), communicating progress, addressing concerns, and escalating issues when necessary.
  • Organize and lead field trips to local airports, maintenance facilities, and aviation expos, enriching classroom learning with hands‑on experiences.
  • Coordinate guest‑speaker sessions featuring industry veterans, airline pilots, and drone‑technology experts.
  • Manage the Aviation Advisory Committee, scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and capturing actionable insights for program improvement.

Administrative Excellence

  • Ensure the CTE curriculum meets state and federal compliance standards, including Part 141 and Part 61 regulations (desired).
  • Develop and update instructional materials, presentations, and digital resources using Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and aviation‑specific software.
  • Participate in outreach events at local high schools, community colleges, and industry trade shows to promote the program and attract prospective students.
  • Provide timely reports to Eaton RESA CPC leadership regarding student performance, program outcomes, and resource needs.

Essential Qualifications – What We Expect

Required Education & Certifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (minimum). Additional post‑secondary coursework in aviation or education is a plus.
  • Commercial Single‑Engine Pilot Certificate with an active rating.
  • Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) or Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument (CFII) certificate issued by the FAA.

Desired Experience & Knowledge

  • Experience as an Assistant Chief Flight Instructor or similar leadership role under Part 141.36 regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach both ground school and drone operations to high‑school students.
  • Familiarity with Part 141 and Part 61 regulatory frameworks, curriculum development, and CTE compliance reporting.
  • Proficiency with educational technology platforms, including learning management systems (LMS), video conferencing tools, and cloud‑based document sharing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the capacity to handle confidential situations with poise, tact, and diplomacy.

Key Skills & Competencies – How You’ll Succeed

  • Instructional Expertise: Ability to convey complex aviation concepts in clear, engaging language for high‑school learners.
  • Curriculum Development: Talent for designing lesson plans that integrate traditional pilot training with emerging drone technology.

  • Flexible Scheduling: Primarily daytime hours during the academic calendar, with the possibility of additional hours for extra sections or special events.
  • Professional Development: Access to FAA‑approved training, conference attendance, and certification renewal support.
  • Remote Collaboration: While teaching occurs on‑site at partner facilities, administrative coordination and planning can be performed remotely, offering work‑life balance.
  • Health & Wellness: Competitive health, dental, and vision plans for eligible employees.
  • Retirement Savings: Participation in a 401(k) or equivalent plan with employer matching options.
