Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach works closely with the Head Coach to elevate the program’s performance on and off the field. Core duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Recruitment & Talent Identification: Assist the Head Coach in scouting, evaluating, and recruiting academically qualified athletes who possess the technical, tactical, and mental attributes to thrive in a Division I environment.
  • Player Development: Design and implement position‑specific training sessions, assist with skill clinics, and provide individualized feedback to improve technical proficiency, game intelligence, and physical conditioning.
  • Game Preparation & Strategy: Contribute to game‑plan development, conduct opponent analysis, and manage in‑game adjustments alongside the coaching staff.
  • Academic Advocacy: Coordinate with USU’s academic services to monitor student‑athlete progress, enforce eligibility standards, and promote a culture that values scholastic excellence.
  • NCAA Compliance: Ensure adherence to all NCAA Division I regulations, complete the mandatory recruiting exam, and serve as a resource for players and staff on compliance matters.
  • Team Culture & Leadership: Model integrity, resilience, and sportsmanship; serve as a mentor and confidant for athletes both on and off the field.
  • Community Engagement: Represent the program at community events, high‑school clinics, alumni gatherings, and media opportunities to raise the program’s profile.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with travel logistics, equipment management, budget tracking, and other operational tasks as directed by the Head Coach.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate a blend of athletic expertise, academic commitment, and interpersonal acumen. Minimum requirements include:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Sports Management, Physical Education, Kinesiology) or equivalent professional experience.
  • Coaching Experience: Proven experience coaching soccer at the collegiate or high‑school level, with a track record of successful player development and recruitment.
  • NCAA Knowledge: Familiarity with NCAA Division I bylaws; successful completion of the NCAA recruiting exam (or eligibility to sit for the exam upon hire).
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities; capacity to convey complex concepts clearly to athletes, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to juggle multiple priorities, maintain detailed records, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Interpersonal Traits: Strong work ethic, collaborative spirit, and a passion for mentoring young adults.

Preferred Qualifications & Desirable Attributes

  • Experience as an assistant coach within an NCAA Division I women’s soccer program.
