Role Overview and Key Responsibilities

As a Sales and Reservations Agent at U-Haul, you will be responsible for handling inbound calls from customers, matching them with the right products and services to meet their needs, and facilitating a seamless and efficient reservation process. Your primary goal will be to provide exceptional customer service, ensuring that every customer interaction is positive and helpful. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Handling back-to-back inbound calls from customers, responding to their inquiries, and providing them with tailored solutions to meet their moving and storage needs.
  • Working within defined guidelines, including following a script and advisories, to ensure a consistent and high-quality customer experience.
  • Utilizing your sales skills to upsell and cross-sell U-Haul products and services, maximizing revenue opportunities while ensuring that customer needs are met.
  • Providing accurate and timely information to customers, answering their questions, and resolving any issues that may arise during the reservation process.
  • Collaborating with other teams, such as operations and logistics, to ensure that customer reservations are fulfilled efficiently and effectively.

Scheduling and Work Requirements

We are looking for candidates who are available to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Sunday, with a primary focus on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM (Arizona time). You must also be available to work at least one weekend day per week and be willing to work holidays, as we provide support to our customers year-round. Please note that scheduling outside of your availability may be required on holidays to meet business needs.

Initial Education and Training

At U-Haul, we are committed to providing our employees with the training and support they need to succeed in their roles. Our comprehensive, three-week education program is designed to build on your existing skill set and prepare you to independently serve our customers. The program includes:

  • Instructor-led class discussions and role-playing exercises to help you develop your sales and customer service skills.
  • Games, simulations, and videos to make learning fun and engaging.
  • E-learning modules through U-Haul University, providing you with access to a wealth of knowledge and resources.
  • Hands-on experience taking live customer calls from the first week, ensuring that you are confident and competent in your role.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive hourly base pay of $13.00, plus a discretionary sales bonus, with the potential to earn $17-20 per hour. You will also be eligible for base pay merit increases based on your performance. In addition to your salary, you will enjoy a range of benefits, including:

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • At least one year of customer service or sales experience in a retail setting or environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including a clear speaking voice, excellent verbal communication, and active listening skills.
  • The ability to prioritize and multi-task, including navigating through and using multiple business software applications.
  • Successful completion of a job-related assessment, which will be administered as part of the hiring process.

Work from Home Requirements

To work from home as a Sales and Reservations Agent, you will need to meet the following technical requirements:

  • A personal home computer that meets our technical specifications, including Windows 11, 16GB of RAM, and a CPU benchmark score of 6,000 or higher.
  • A webcam (external or built-in) and a USB headset (wired).
  • Internet speeds with a ping under 100, 50MB download speed, and 5MB upload speed.

Please note that you will be required to work from a private, quiet area in your home, and dependent and child-care arrangements must be made as if you were working in an office environment. You will also need to obtain manager approval if you need to change your designated computer.
