About the Position
The Flight Paramedic position is a full-time opportunity that offers a competitive salary range of $21.50 - $33.00 per hour. As a Flight Paramedic, you will work a varied schedule, including 12-hour shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure that our patients receive the care they need, whenever they need it. You will be based at our Central Patient Building in Sioux Falls, but your work will take you to various locations, providing emergency medical services to patients in need.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced medical care to patients in emergency situations, including trauma and medical cases, using your knowledge and skills to make a positive impact on patient outcomes.
 - Assess patients' conditions, determine the nature and extent of their illnesses or injuries, and establish priorities for required emergency care, ensuring that patients receive the right care at the right time.
 - Administer emergency care and treatment, including lifesaving interventions, and determine the appropriate facility for patient transport, taking into account the patient's condition and the extent of their injuries.
 - Constantly assess patients while in transit to the emergency facility, administering additional care as indicated or directed by medical personnel, and maintaining accurate records of patient care and treatment.
 - Communicate effectively with receiving facilities to provide patient status updates and critical information, ensuring seamless transitions and continuity of care.
 - Maintain communication with patients and their families, providing comfort, reassurance, and emotional support during difficult times, while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards.
 - Assist with patient care in receiving facilities, including lifting and moving patients as required, and participate in hospital-based activities, such as trauma codes and critical cases, to further develop your skills and expertise.
 
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a combination of education, experience, and skills, including:
- A high school diploma or equivalent, with an associate degree in paramedic technology or paramedicine preferred.
 - Completion of an accredited Paramedic Training Program and national registry status as a Paramedic.
 - A minimum of three years' experience as a paramedic on a busy Advanced Life Support Ambulance service, with a thorough knowledge of paramedic principles, practices, and techniques.
 - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Trauma training or equivalent, and Advanced Certifications (FP-C, CFRN, CCRN, CTRN, CEN, RNC) as required.
 - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and provide emotional support to patients and their families.
 
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience working in an air medical transport environment, with knowledge of aircraft operations and safety procedures.
 - Advanced certifications, such as FP-C, CFRN, CCRN, CTRN, CEN, or RNC, demonstrating your commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
